Giclee is a French word that means “to squirt”, referring to an “ink jet” printing process that most artists now use to
reproduce their original art. Artists in the past have used the lithograph and serigraph processes, but current high-
resolution digital scanning and “giclee” printing now produce the most accurate reproductions ever. With archival
pigmented inks and professional canvas, giclee prints will probably outlive the original.
Many artists, including Siler, “enhance” (or “embellish”) a giclee by adding more paint after it is printed, re-creating
the texture that is lost during the printing process. After enhancing is done, the giclee not only has the look, but also
the feel of an original. Sometimes, if the artist substantially alters the original image and colors of the giclee, the
giclee itself becomes a new painting...and far more valuable.
All Siler giclee prints are enhanced by the artist himself and published in strictly limited editions (500 pieces or less
per edition). Each giclee print is re-signed, numbered and includes a Certificate Of Authenticity.
